It is stated by the law that only the police authority has the right to detain a person suspected of committing a crime and only in urgent cases, when the criminal proceedings has not been started. Personal freedom of an individual may be according to the Criminal Code of the Czech Republic restricted by anyone who caught such person in the process of committing a crime or immediately thereafter.
